What is the print quality and fine art reproduction process?
Measures are taken by the printer and the artist to ensure each print is of archival quality. Steps must be taken to guarantee that each print will last and hold it's value. This printing pocess is called giclee. Giclee is an archival fine art reproduction process which allows the artist to make high quality reproductions of their original artwork contributing to it's exceptional detail and archival qualities. Often indistinguishable from the original artwork, giclee prints have become accepted by the art community.
Archival Arts [Archical, Fine Art Reproduction] consists of a team of well-qualified printer professionals with extensive experience in digital imaging and state-of-the-art equipment. Their mission is to provide high quality archival giclee reproductions to artists and galleries. In addition to giclee services,
Archival Arts offer canvas stretching, varnishing, and framing services.
What is a Certificate of Authenticity?
Included with each order [excluding 5x7 prints] is a customized Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate includes information about what was used to produce the print (ink, media, equipment). This also provides a guarantee that you are getting a quality reproduction that will last a lifetime. In the future, this information will prove invaluable for an appraiser.
What is media and what are my media options?
Media is the material on which the high quality fine art will be printed. Currently, all media are 100% cotton rag. By default, all standard prints are on watercolor paper media [300gsm William Turner Watercolor by Hahnemuhle]. Watercolor prints do not require any type of spray. However, to protect the quality and durability of a watercolor print, it is recommended that you ensure matting and framing under UV glass. Unless otherwise you request it, you may choose to print on waterproof canvas media [Matte Canvas by Parrott Digigraphic]. Giclee's are printed on canvas, which are are stretched or mounted and varnished for protection against UV-ray and the elements. A canvas print can be varnished with a matte or gloss finish and include brush strokes or pallette knife texture.
